Hello Alfred Chicago: A Mixed Experience at the Studio

During our nine-day stay in July 2019, we had a mixed experience at Alfred's studio. While it was clean, simple, bright, and warm, there were some issues that made our stay not entirely convenient.

One of the main drawbacks was the house rule of not being able to do laundry past 9:00 pm. As we spent most of our time exploring the island with our rental car and came back late in the evening, this limitation proved somewhat inconvenient. Additionally, the people upstairs from us were loud at times, which made it difficult for us to rest.

The street outside the studio could also get very loud on weekends, especially when we kept our windows open for fresh air. To make matters worse, there was a homeless shelter next door where harmless but intimidating individuals would hang out. These factors combined made it challenging for us to relax in the evenings.

Another issue we faced was the kitchenette, which had all the necessary utensils but took forever to cook anything due to the slow stove top. Moreover, the 'little' fridge in the studio had no freezer and was not very cold, making it difficult to keep meat fresh for more than two days.

The nearby Bonus Supermarket was convenient, but it closed at 6:00 pm, which meant we couldn't buy groceries if we went out exploring after that time. This limitation forced us to plan our meals carefully and avoid cooking in the evening.

Despite these challenges, we managed to find a solution by calling the phone number on the check-in instruction and obtaining another code. However, when we tried to check in at the specified time, we discovered that we had been given the wrong code. This mistake added to the frustration of our stay.

In conclusion, while Alfred's studio had its advantages, such as being clean and warm, there were several issues that made our stay less than ideal. If you're planning a trip to Chicago, it's essential to weigh these pros and cons before booking your accommodation.
